In February 2023, a Japanese American was forced to discriminate at a public school in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. If you can help, please raise your voice.
At a prefectural high school in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, at its graduation ceremony in February, an 18-year-old third-year male student was not allowed to sit in the seats reserved for graduates because of his hairstyle.
And it turned out that he was isolated on the second floor where there were no other students.
The student had a Japanese mother and an American father, and her hair was braided, which is traditional in the black culture of her father’s Roots.
As the number of children with overseas roots increases in Japan, school rules and hair guidance are likely to be called into question.
This is something that should not happen in developed countries. Please report to the UN Human Rights Council.
